Baking Monster
This is one of the first monsters I ever made so I have a special attacthement to it. He is baking a cake while watching tv, probably a little monster cooking show. I love the little mixer and his chef's hat. I have since made a girl chef using this as the inspiration for a pastry chef in LA who specializes in handmade custard ice cream, waffle cones, and other mini yummies. I am using this image to creat a small ibook soon, the title will be "How To Make A Monster Cake", I am really excited about it.

Ballerina Monster
I made this Ballerina monster for the little girl I nanny for. She had a tutu before she was born! Her grandmother owned a dancing school and dancing is in her blood. I used to take her to her little dance classes and watch through the small window. There is nothing cuter than 10 little two year old girls in tutus trying to dance when they just barely learned to walk!
Princess Monster
Wedding Monsters
Football Fan Monsters
The lady who ordered these paintings saw the the Saints Fan picture and wanted a football fan monster for her father and her boyfriend for Christmas. Her father is a Raiders fan and her boyfriend was a Packers fan. It was fun, this year the Packers won the Superbowl, and quite a few people made the Packers fan painting their facebook avatar.
Astronaut
About 6 years ago I decided to become a nanny. I was working unhappily in corporate land for a while and I wanted a change. I began working for a family with one little boy who was 1 1/2 and the time. He was so adorable and we went everywhere together, he was my little buddy. The family has had a couple more children since, and the little boy I nanny for isn't so little, he is almost as tall as me! It's amazing how much they grow.
One night, I was putting him to bed and we were talking, he asked if he could order a monster painting. His idea was very clever, an astronaut monster with little aliens. I adored the idea and painted it for him for Christmas. It is now propped up on his dresser with all of his little trinkets and treasures.
Golphing
I love children, and love it when parents order little monsters for their kiddies. I made this golfing monster for a little boy whose father is a golf fanatic. I imagine there must be golf balls all over the backyard for him to play with. I love the stereotypical golfing outfits, so I made the monster with a plaid cap and argyle vest. If you look closely at this one, you will see two happy golfers in a golf cart in the background. This makes me want to play!
Saints Fan
It think it was Picasso who said that his paintings were like pages of a diary. For me, this is certainly true. I was beginning to chat with a handsome man while working on my monsters. He happened to be a major Saints fan and I convinced him to buy a monster painting. He ended up ordering one, and we continued talking. Eventually, I went to visit New York where the Saints fan lives, and we fell in love. :)
Reading
The lady who ordered this monster painting asked me to make a girl monster with blond hair, reading with a pink and brown color scheme. I was having trouble thinking of something so my friend, who is an avid reader, suggested that I make it reading in a little fort. I couldn't figure out how to draw a fort. I remembered when I was a little girl, I had a canopy bed, and I thought it would be cute for a little girl's room. I love the way this one turned out, I have actually had a request from another family for the exact same one which I am working on right now. This makes me want to crawl under the covers with a good book.
Fashion Monster
Snorkeling Monster
Tea and Cupcakes
I have a friend who loved my monsters, and as soon as she found out that I was selling them, she wanted one right away. She wasn't sure what kind of monster she wanted so she invited me over for tea and cupcakes to decide. She love love loves bright colors, and I suggested that we make a cute tea and cupcake monster. Now it is framed and hung up in her chic and colorful pad.
Emo Monster
The lady who purchased this said that she had a hard time buying a gift for her younger brother. She told me all all of his favorite things and I tried to incorporate them all in the image. He is always listening to his ipod, playing music, wearing a beanie, and he loves animals especially his little hamster names Ming-Ming, who is perched up on his hat. :)
Dancer
This monster was created for a gentleman is San Francisco who owns a visual arts school. His wife is a beautiful dancer and he wanted to surprise her with a monster as a gift. He wanted me to incorporate his school logo some how, and I used her facebook avatar as reference for her monster she is in the same pose.
Pastry Chef Monster
This was a custom order for my friend who is a pastry chef in LA. She has baking since she was a little girl and makes the most amazing treats! In this picture she is making homemade custard ice cream in waffle cones. There is a little waffle iron in the foreground and custard is heating on the stove in the background. This is one of my favorites but it makes me hungry!
Fisheman
The lady who ordered this monster, ordered it for her boyfriend who is a passionate fisherman. I had a great time making this one, and I love it. I think there is a lot of detail and depth in this one and it is so happy. There is a little tackle box on the boat, and a fisherman's hat complete with little flies.
Star Catcher
I designed this for a lady with a baby on the way. She was planning the decor and was very specific with her request. She wanted a pink and green color scheme, girl monster with fangs, a pink star back ground, she wanted the monster have a purple dress, a green bow, and to be holding a butterfly net. This is still a favorite among most of the people I know.
Group Shot Monsters
This sassy singing monster was an order I had from a lady with some windpipes who liked to rock. She had a really cute style, blonde curly hair and glasses. She loved it so much she ordered another one for her friends as Christmas gift. Somehow this little monster got lost in the mail and I had to recreate it exactly. I think it tested my skill level a little but I was happy with the results. Needless to say I am sure, but my mom is one of my biggest fans; she loves my monsters. This Christmas, I was at a loss for what to buy her because she claims she has everything she need. One of her passions is gardening, she had a gorgeous garden that I am envious of. I can't even keep a cactus alive!
I designed this monster for someone who wanted to give it as a gift. He sent me a few pictures of th lady it was for. She was a yoga instructor with blond hair and had an affinity for everything "zen". So, I tried to create a peaceful image of a yoga monster meditating on a lilly pad. I added cherry blossoms and Mt. Fiji in the background for a more Japanese and zen feel.
This painting was ordered by a friend of mine who wanted a special gift for his mother who was ill in the hospital. His mother is very artistic and loved angels. It was so fun to make this little one, I think it turned out very sweet.

Coppertone Monster
I designed this monster for a little girl's room. The parents requested an 8 x 10 Monster painting of their daughter was playing with a puppy, with a pink and light green color scheme, and the girl monster with blond hair. I had a friend suggest that I recreate the old coppertone ad and I thought it was brilliant. The family was very happy with the painting. Whenever I show this to little kids, they always giggle.
